I have already posted a variety of poricha kulambu with drumstick leaves. Here is a very quick recipe which can be done in a jiffy even in busy morning schedules.Turkey berry has excellent medicinal values. It develops immunity at a large. - Moong Dhal-1/2 cup mashed
- Sundakkai Vatthal-10-15
- Oil -To cook
- Salt-to taste
- Turmeric Powder-A pinch
- Hing-A pinch
To dry roast and grind:
- Pepper-5 to 6
- Red Chilly-2
- Coconut-1/2 tbsp
- Toor dhal-1/4 tbsp
- Cumin seeds-1/4 tbsp
To temper:
- Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves
Procedure:
1.Wash and cook the dhal in pressure cooker. Mash it well and set it aside.
2.Dry roast the ingredients and let it cool.
3.In the meantime add oil in a kadai and fry the sundaikkai vatthal .
4.Make a coarse powder of the items roasted.
5.Heat a kadai,add oil and temper with mustard seeds,urad and curry leaves.
6.Add the roasted powder,turmeric powder and hing.
7.Add around a cup of water and let it boil.
8.When it begins to boil add the mashed dhal and mix it well.
9.After five minutes of boiling add sundakkai vathal and give a quick stir.
10.Serve it hot with rice.
I tried out Poricha Kuzhambu today with carrots and potato. Came out well. We also call it “puli illa kari”
